Project 1 - 1860s Outerwear

Project 1: 1860s Outerwear
Materials from the stash:
  1. 2.5 yards of 25 inch wide brown paisley printed velveteen, some sort of cotton blend, purchased from the Goodwill as-is thrift store, circa 2005
  2. 1 yard of brown cotton velvet, also from Goodwill as-is store from 2005

In the Beginning

If you craft or sew you know the dreaded overgrown stash. It started
small, you saw a great deal that you just couldn’t pass up, you didn’t
have a project specifically in mind, but you had all these great ideas
and would use it soon. And eventually it became enormous,
encompassing more than you could ever practically use.

And so I decided to start this project. My goal is to slash my stash
by constructing all costumes and projects for the next year with items
from my stash.
Here are the rules:
1. The primary materials for each project must come from the stash.
This includes fabric, buttons, ribbon and other items that have been
stockpiled.
2. Sewing notions such as needles, thread, and other similar items may
be bought.
3. Exceptions to stash projects will be made for school fashion
projects that require materials not already represented in the stash.
Let’s see how far I get!
